Complete Hydro-Excavation Solutions in the Midwest
Precision Daylighting Inc. provides effective hydro-excavation solutions in the Midwest and additional services to handle
projects of any size safely and efficiently. Take advantage of our expertise.
Hydro-Excavation
Hydro-excavation is a precise, non-mechanical, and non-destructive method of digging that combines pressurized water with a high-powered vacuum. The soil-and-water slurry is collected through an 8" hose and deposited into a truck-mounted debris tank, minimizing site disruption.
This method enables quick, clean, and precise excavations that require less backfill, less labor force, less restoration, and less environmental impact than conventional digging methods. A controlled flow water stream allows for surgeon-like accuracy. While removing only material necessary for repair or inspection, minimal material needs to be removed compared to the large, less-than-accurate excavator or back-hoe bucket.
Potholing/Utility Holes
The use of hydrovacs for potholing continues to grow as a safer and more precise alternative to traditional methods. Potholing is a form of exploratory digging used to determine the exact location of both known and unknown underground utility lines.
Mechanical digging is risky, often relying more on guesswork than proper planning. Hydro-excavation, on the other hand, is the preferred method for opening utility pole holes, which are typically installed on utility easements that frequently contain additional buried infrastructure.

Debris Removal
Our high-powered vacuum system can remove virtually any material that fits through our 8" hose. Hard-to-reach areas aren't a problem, thanks to a remote hose that can be extended up to 600 feet. Our hydrovacs regularly handle challenging tasks such as cleaning car wash pits, drilling mud, retaining ponds and pits, underground detention basins, and other difficult-to-access areas with speed and precision.
Slot Trenching
Slot trenching can be performed with exceptional precision using our handheld wands. With Precision Daylighting Inc.'s hydrovacs, trenches of any length, width, or depth can be cut exactly where needed, ensuring accurate and efficient excavation every time.
Air/Air Knife Excavation
In addition to our hydro services, Precision Daylighting Inc. now offers air excavation. Our powerful hydrovacs can deliver pressurized air through a handheld wand instead of water, allowing for dry material removal. The advantage is that the material is removed dry rather than wet, making disposal easier and more convenient. In many cases, this dry material can also be reused as backfill for the excavation.
Culvert and Sewer Cleaning
Using controlled water pressure in combination with our high-powered vacuum, we provide a cost-effective solution for cleaning hard-to-reach culverts, storm drains, and sewers.
Frozen Ground Excavation/Remote Excavation
Each Precision Daylighting Inc. hydrovac truck is equipped with on-board boilers, allowing us to cut through frozen soil with ease. While traditional mechanical equipment struggles in frozen conditions, our hydrovac trucks maintain efficiency and precision without slowing down.
Reaching difficult or confined areas is a specialty of Precision Daylighting Inc. Heavy equipment can damage landscaping or property aesthetics, but hydro-excavation, which utilizes a handheld water line and vacuum, preserves the original site with minimal disruption.
We have completed challenging excavations by extending our hoses into hard-to-access locations while the hydrovac remains curbside. Our company has successfully excavated inside elevator shafts, schools, hospitals, mines, stadiums, and other community buildings. If we can get our hoses to it, we can dig it.
